The SunCastle design, as is it known today did not develop overnight but evolved over many years. Beginning its journey in 1882, a need was fulfilled when the very unique and elegant 'Island in the Sun' was conceived in Germany. But it wasn't until 1998, when the idea of bringing the Strandkorb to the US sparked potential and opportunity.

Our company became excited about this unique opportunity and explored further in search of the most innovative manufacturer we could find. We wanted someone who would not only be able to manufacture the Strandkorb, but who would also impress us with innovation and experience. That was exactly what we found when we located a company in Germany called SonnenPartner. Intrigued by the history of the owner, we discovered that he had already built a large customer base among high profile athletes and clients in the entertainment arena.

Having started his company through sheer determination more than 20 years ago, the manufacturer did what others would have considered impossible. He sold a beach chair in the center of Germany, geographically hundreds of miles from any shoreline. Recognizing that this was not a run of the mill beach chair, but something unusual elegant and unique, he pursued his dream with exuberance and passion. For all intents and purposes, he was considered rather odd for attempting to sell something that was entirely out of its element. Nevertheless, he had a clear vision that this chair would fill a need in a home environment, and consequently began manufacturing what is now known as the SunCastle/Strandkorb design.

Bear in mind, at that point in time, the Strandkorb design had only been sold or used on the shores of Northern Germany. Now for the first time ever someone was attempting to add genuine innovation to the design, look and appeal of the chair and in an area that seemed far-fetched. His determination though took him far for owning a chair of this caliber literally became a status symbol.

So what was his secret? He put together a press release and went to local newspapers, radio and TV stations sharing his chair with everyone. His phone did not stop ringing for about two to three weeks after the release went out and his product became a success overnight. Growing from that point on, he slowly expanded his product line from the basic to the most luxurious. But most importantly, he followed his vision faithfully and presently the SunCastle/Strandkorb can be found throughout European countries including Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria.

Like the manufacturer in Germany, we at SunCastle Inc. are now faithful to the challenge of making this product a household name throughout the United States and beyond. In support of our vision, during last years trade show at the Jacob Javits Center, we were finalists in the Editors' Choice Award for best new product, were received extremely well by the public and have attracted the interest of a well-known 100 year old furniture company.

Infused with intense vision, The SunCastle, Inc. is intent upon carrying on the tradition of excellence as we share the beautiful product line of the SunCastle with the world. Having built our company from the ground up, our hearts and our passion are at the center of this operation for it is our dream that before long, when one hears the name SunCastle, it will evoke visions of relaxation, privacy and pleasure in the sun.
